INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER DRIVING LICENSE (ICDL) COURSE

The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) training program covers seven Microsoft modules.

Mod 1: Basic Concepts of Information Technology (IT).

Mod 2: Using the PC and Managing Files.

Mod 3: Word Processing.

Mod 4: Spreadsheets.

Mod 5: Database.

Mod 6: Presentation.

Mod 7: Information and Communication.

The benefits of ICDL to computer users are:

·        It ensures that every computer user attains a competent level of computer skills and basic knowledge of IT for survival in this information society.

·        It increases career opportunities.

·        It allows mobility within business and across the community.

·        It is an internationally recognised certificate issued by the ICDL Foundation of SA (ICDL-F) and supported by major employers in Europe and worldwide.

The benefits of ICDL to Employers are:

·        It is an easy way to determine computer competency of job applicants and staff.

·        It simplifies employment procedures.

·        It enhances the produc-tivity of employees.

·        It identifies the kind of IT training required to enhance staff’s computer competency.

Service Corps will present the course at the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) in Pretoria. Our Computer Training Section is very advanced.

The next courses you can apply for in 2004 are:

·        5 July - 27 Aug 04: Application possible until 30 June 04.          

·        30 Aug -15 Oct 04: Application possible until 25 Aug 04.   

·        25 Oct - 10 Dec 04: Application possible until 20 Oct 04.

 Entry requirements:

 

  • Grade 9.
  • Full command of the English language.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word).
  • Access to computer at the work place.

 Applications MUST have an Officer Commanding recommendation to attend. They must also be on file reference R/103/2.
