MUTUAL TWO OCEANS MARATHON 2005
The
36 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon 2005 will be held on 26
March 2005.
The DOD participants this year will be ± 246, of whom 37 will be ladies. The
DOD, as a combined club, has the 4th largest club entry for this
year’s Two Oceans Marathon.
The
runners will cover a distance of 56 km from UCT (University of Cape Town) via
Chapman’s Peak and back.
The Sec Def, CSANDF
and members of the Defence Staff Council, as well as the management of the SANDF
Road Runners Association, wish all participants a successful race and trust that
their personal goals for the day will be accomplished.
The Defence Force will
have a special stand at the UCT campus where all the families and friends of the
participants will gather to cheer the runners.
The national flag and
the SANDF flag will be displayed in front of the Defence Force stand for easy
identification.
Two (2) DOD athletes
will try to obtain the blue numbers by completing their tenth Old Mutual Two
Oceans Marathon.
This
year 1039 foreign athletes will participate in the Old Mutual Two Oceans
Marathon competition.
The
event will be marked by an increasing number of mature athletes.
A
total of ± 7830 athletes will participate in the 56 km and ± 7651 athletes in
the 21 km distance, respectively.
