2005: No 51/05 TAKE NOTE
LAUNCH OF THE NEW DOD WEBSITE PORTAL (www.dod.mil.za)
The new Department of Defence website portal
(www.dod.mil.za) was formally launched on 15
August 2005.
The DOD boasts two website addresses, namely
www.dod.mil.za and www.dod.gov.za to be in-line
with international internet standards and
trends. The old website address www.mil.za will
remain as the official military Internet root
domain address. All these addresses are
automatically routed through to the new
Department of Defence website portal for easy
accessibility.
The Cabinet approved the establishment and
roll-out of a uniform corporate identity for the
Government on 9 June 2004.
Soon after, the Government Communications (GCIS)
Department, in collaboration with the Department
of Arts and Culture (DAC), issued corporate
identity guidelines to assist departments in the
application of the Government brand.
The DOD website is the first Government
website to be 100% Government corporate identity
and branding compliant.
Why a DOD website?
The Internet is exploding, with more and more
users and websites each day. It has become a

branding compliant.

audiences with professional, accurate and
updated corporate information.
Defence Corporate Communication will
endeavour to continue to support the DOD with
