DOD PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT OF THE
CASUAL DAY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR PEOPLE WITH
DISABILITY IN SOUTH AFRICA: FRIDAY 1 SEP 2006
Casual Day still remains the biggest fund and
awareness-raising event in South Africa for
people with disabilities and organisations
catering for the needs of people with
disabilities.
The Casual Day project is managed by the
National Council for Persons with Physical
Disabilities in SA.
The project raised more than R10 million
during 2005 and the organisers again thanked the
DOD for its contribution and support.
DOD institutions are once again requested to
participate and support this year’s Casual Day
fundraising campaign and try to better last
year’s contribution of R164 390, 00.
What makes it even more exciting is that the
Curamus Association, which caters for
disabled DOD members /employees, are going to
benefit directly from every person in the DOD
who participates.
All stickers therefore must therefore be
ordered through the Curamus Association and not
be bought through ABSA or any other organisation
in order to help the Curamus Association to
benefit from the DOD’s participation.
Persons and institutions ordering and selling
Casual Day stickers are hereby reminded that
they will be accountable for collecting the
money and paying it over to the Curamus
Association.
Unsold stickers need to be returned to the
Curamus Association, as penalties will be paid
for each outstanding sticker.
This year’s Casual Day theme is “Use your
power to empower.”
All DOD institutions are requested to host a
function or event on this day to show that we as
the DOD care for persons with disabilities.
DOD institutions are invited to participate
in the event by involving a school or
organisation in their region catering for the
needs of people with disabilities.
The DOD, in supporting Casual Day, will again
demonstrate to the South African society and
disabled community our commitment in raising
awareness about people with disabilities, their
rights, their needs, their potential and their
contribution to society at large.
All DOD institutions are again encouraged to
participate in this event 1 Sep 2006 as far as
possible, bearing in mind their effectiveness
and mission readiness.
Any enquiries in this regard must be
forwarded to Mr M.J. Swart, tel (012) 355-6259.
