DIRECTORATE CAREER DEVELOPMENT (PSAP)
INTRODUCES MINI CENTRES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF
DEFENCE (DOD) DISABLED PERSONS.
The Directorate Career Development Public
Service Act Personnel DCD (PSAP) has created
several Career Resources Centres.
These Career Resource Centres seek to help
employees to develop and plan their careers.
The Mini Tape Aids Centre has 60
career-related recreational and educational book
titles captured on audiotapes for the blind.
The Career Resources Centre is the Mini Tape
Aids Centre sponsored by the EOCD, the SA Army,
the SAAF, and Curamus respectively.
The Mini Tape Aids Centre is a means to
ensure that all the DOD officials easily access
literature regarding career development.
However, the focus is on the sight and print
handicapped as indicated below:
- Blind and visually impaired.
- People with dyslexia.
- Patients in spinal wards.
- Quadriplegics.
- Elderly people.
- A person with cerebral palsy.
- Muscular dystrophy.
- A person with a crippling disease that
makes holding or handling a book difficult.
- A list of all titles is available from
which a selection can be made. Equipment is
also available for people to listen to the
tapes in the Career Resource Centre.
The officials must ensure that people make
appointments with their nearest Career Resource
Centre personnel.
The centres are available in Gauteng, Kwazulu
Natal, Western Cape, and Free State.
In Gauteng the centre is at the DCD’s office
in Pretoria at Poyntons Building. For more
