DIRECTORATE CAREER DEVELOPMENT (PSAP) INTRODUCES MINI CENTRES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE (DOD) DISABLED PERSONS.

The Directorate Career Development Public Service Act Personnel DCD (PSAP) has created several Career Resources Centres.

These Career Resource Centres seek to help employees to develop and plan their careers.

The Mini Tape Aids Centre has 60 career-related recreational and educational book titles captured on audiotapes for the blind.

The Career Resources Centre is the Mini Tape Aids Centre sponsored by the EOCD, the SA Army, the SAAF, and Curamus respectively.

The Mini Tape Aids Centre is a means to ensure that all the DOD officials easily access literature regarding career development.

However, the focus is on the sight and print handicapped as indicated below:

  • Blind and visually impaired.
  • People with dyslexia.
  • Patients in spinal wards.
  • Quadriplegics.
  • Elderly people.
  • A person with cerebral palsy.
  • Muscular dystrophy.
  • A person with a crippling disease that makes holding or handling a book difficult.
  • A list of all titles is available from which a selection can be made. Equipment is also available for people to listen to the tapes in the Career Resource Centre.

The officials must ensure that people make appointments with their nearest Career Resource Centre personnel.
