PROMOTION AND FORM OF ADDRESS OF SENIOR WARRANT OFFICERS IN THE SANDF 

Approval has been granted for the promotion of Senior Warrant Officers in their current posts to the new ranks as indicated, effective from 1 November 2008. 

These ranks are awarded subsequent to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 with the intention of providing for an extended career path for Warrant Officers following promotion to Warrant Officer Class 1. It should be noted that the form of address as prescribed in Info Bulletin No 38/08 is incorrect and the correct form of address is prescribed in this bulletin. All members must note that their promotions are with retention of their current pay and rank. This is due to pending departmental and Treasury approval of the proposed Senior Warrant

Officer dispensation, which will prescribe the pay structures for members promoted to the Senior Warrant Officer ranks. Members will only be remunerated after the above-mentioned approval.

An investigation is currently being conducted into the establishment of a Functional Specialist Warrant Officer dispensation outside the Command Line, providing for promotion up to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, depending on the organisational level and the job content of a post.

The Office of the Chief Human Resources will include the ranks in the General Regulations for the SANDF and develop departmental policy detailing the supporting management and administration processes for the new ranks.
