INVITATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR PILOT/
NAVIGATOR TRAINING
Applications for pilot/navigator training are
invited from serving members of all services.
These applications are awaited for the
January/February 2009 selection:
The minimum application requirements are as
follows:
- Be a South African citizen (relinquish
any other citizenship he/she may have).
- Be between the age of 18 and 24 years
(or no older than 26 years, if they are
graduates).
- Applicants must not be older than 28
years upon commencement.
- They must be currently busy with or
successfully completed Grade 12 or
equivalent.
- Obtain at least a D-Symbol in
higher-grade Mathematics and Physical
Science or a C-Symbol in standard grade
Mathematics and Physical science in Grade
12, or 60% in N4 – Level Mathematics and
Physical science and at least 50% in these
subjects at N5, N6 and 1st year university
or technikon level, or equivalent.
- Pass English at Grade 12 or an
equivalent.
- Be medically fit, as is normally
required of persons wishing to train as
pilots or navigators in the Air Force.
- Have 6/6 vision, in other words he/she
must not have need of spectacles, contact
lenses or laser correction.
- The applicant must not have any hearing
impairments, in other words, he/she must not
have need of hearing aids.
- Must be single when applying and remain
single for the duration of training.
- Must not have a criminal record.
- Must be willing to relocate and to
participate in deployments both in South
Africa and abroad if required to do
so.

certificates/qualifications and a copy of their
